ZEN SPA off Wix, onto Astro. Calmer, faster, editable by humans.
ZEN SPA at Hotel Tatra in central Bratislava is a 4.8-star wellness brand (float tanks, infrared sauna, massage, courses). The old Wix site looked dated, leaked every image into Wix's CDN, and locked the client out of meaningful edits. We rebuilt it on Astro in two weeks: same content, fully self-hosted assets, full marketing stack behind proper consent, plus an admin editor the client can use without a developer.

Two weeks. Migration, tracking, handover.
This wasn't a one-night design refresh. ZEN SPA needed a proper migration off Wix: every image self-hosted, every blog post moved to a real content collection, the full marketing stack rewired behind Consent Mode v2, and an admin editor the client can use themselves once we're gone.
- Week 1, days 1 to 3
Scaffold and content port
Astro 6 monorepo with the Aloha client template. Content from the Wix export normalised into Astro Content Collections: 25 pages SK plus EN, 9 blog articles, the celebrity-press grid, and the price list. A paired Pages CMS schema lets the client edit any section through a Git-backed form.

Self-host every asset
Wix CDN references replaced with locally optimised images. Each photo gets four responsive WebP variants (480, 960, 1440, 1920) plus a JPG fallback, about 62% smaller than the Wix-served originals. No static.wixstatic.com reference survives into production.
- Week 2, days 8 to 12
Tracking stack, consent, performance
GTM, Meta Pixel, Google Ads, GA4: all gated through CookieYes with Consent Mode v2. 11-cookie audit catalogued by purpose. Performance pass moved mobile PageSpeed from 66 to 97 via inline critical fonts, hero preload, deferred third parties, and one-year immutable cache headers.

Cutover and handover
DNS moved from Wix nameservers to WebSupport. Let's Encrypt cert provisioned. Single 301 hop collapses HTTP, apex, and preview URL to https://www.zenspa.sk. Nine legacy Wix slugs 301-redirected so existing search rankings carry over. Admin editor at /admin/ documented for self-service.
Not a redesign. A working site, fully owned.
- Astro 6, preview on Cloudflare Pages (zenspa.alohasmile.sk, noindex) and production on WebSupport via FTPS, both auto-deploying from GitHub Actions.
- 25 pages in Slovak and English with proper hreflang and a one-click language switcher.
- 9 blog articles ported byte-for-byte from the Wix export to Astro Content Collections, with original publish dates preserved.
- Every image self-hosted with 4-variant responsive WebP. No wixstatic.com reference survives into the production bundle.
- Mobile floating action bar with Book, Vouchers, Call, Map. Replaces the Wix popup that visitors used to dismiss.
- Full marketing stack (GTM, Meta Pixel, Google Ads, GA4) gated by CookieYes with Consent Mode v2.
- Cookie audit complete: 11 cookies catalogued by category, all toggleable from the consent banner.
- Admin editor at /admin/ (noindex) documenting how the client edits content through Pages CMS without a developer.
- JSON-LD schema (HealthAndBeautyBusiness with aggregateRating 4.8 stars over 314 reviews, Article, BreadcrumbList), sitemap.xml, llms.txt for AI crawlers.
- 9 legacy Wix URLs 301-redirected, preserving search rankings through the migration.
- Mobile PageSpeed score from 66 to 97 after the post-launch performance pass.
